Gender equality
The time we listen gender equality, our mind thinks of equal wages for men and women, independent, a fundamental right, equality and much more. These all things can be done by making people aware and educated but in general men and women can never be equal nor superior than each other. Their is a balance in nature some duties are given to men and some to women. Now, due to inadequate knowledge people suppress women and show other gender to be superior one, which is so foolishness. If their is mountain then their is a river also. A men cannot give birth and a women cannot have the physical traits of men. These two are so good in their own. The thing which really matter is the respect and love not only women needs respect men also. Why to compete if the nature has made you for balance. Just, look around your home if mother and father are doing different things why should mother's work not be seen. If a women is not going office why her work and duty for home is not seen. Why to always give respect to the person having money. The time we realize that how grateful and blessed people are for whatever they have and whoever they are only then the crime, suffering and greediness will end.
Till now women are the part of society who have suffered a lot in the society, so in this blog we will be seeing that.
Firstly, we will be seeing problems faced by women during pandemic
- On an average, women spend 2.4 more hours per day
- Effect of COVID:
- Women have been hit harder than men by the pandemic, losing income and leaving the labour market at a greater rate.
- This vulnerability is due to gender inequality.
- Women are 25% more likely than men to live in extreme poverty.
- Only one in ten countries and territories, however, have policies addressing women’s economic security needs.
- Women have been hit harder than men by the pandemic, losing income and leaving the labour market at a greater rate.
In India the effect of pandemic on girl's education
Girls are expected to learn domestic skills in preparation for marriage so that they can take care of their husband and future children. Since a daughter will leave the household after marriage and become part of another family, educating a girl child is often seen as an unnecessary burden — parents receive more return on investment in the education of their son.
Girls are also less likely to have access to technology for remote learning. In Bihar, a state that has one of the highest poverty rates in India, just 28% of girls reported having access to a phone compared to 36% of boys.
Malala Fund Education Champion and director of Joint Operation for Social Help (JOSH) Aheli chowdhary says that the economic impacts of the pandemic have had disastrous effects on girls’ education in India. “The income of people has consistently gone down [during the pandemic], and when the family income goes down, girls are the first ones to be pulled out of school.
Most students don't have mobile phones or any form of digital access, and that's true for girls, mostly for girls, because even if there is one smartphone, it won't be for the girl. Most of the time it would be one smartphone in the family and that would be typically for the father or the brother,” agrees Aheli. She shares that about 25–30% of students in rural Uttar Pradesh — the majority of whom are girls — have stopped attending school since the start of the pandemic. She says the seven-month gap when the country was under quarantine and students couldn’t learn at home has been a major factor in preventing them from returning to the classroom.
- Girls have been one of the worst impacted groups as the schools remain closed due to Covid-19.
- Increased dropouts might impact girls by putting them at risk of early marriage, early pregnancy, poverty, trafficking and violence.
- During the pandemic, the access gap became wider for girls due to the predominant use of digital learning mode.
Day to day problems faced by women
- The first and foremost issue that is facing by women is child marriages. It leads to the psychological, social, mental and physical issues for that young girl.
- Another problem is the acid attack. It happened many times in India. It is done with the intention of taking revenge on a girl by throwing acid.
- Rape is one of the most significant issues that are faced by women in India. It destroys the entire life of a girl or woman. According to statistics, it is one of the most common crimes on a girl or woman all over the world.
- In tribal areas, women are beaten to death after accused of practising witchcraft. It is one of the superstitions in India.
- Domestic violence is one of the issues in India that women are facing. A woman is insulted or beaten by her husband and her relatives in the home.
- Next issue is the dowry system. Until today, it is practising in India.
- Honour killing is one of the issues that are faced by women in India. A girl will be killed for marrying against the wish of her parents and relatives.
- Female foeticide is another biggest issue. Family members will kill a girl child in the mother’s womb. It is because they consider a girl is a burden to them.
